BRESS Breda Open SF: Buckley And Smith To Meet In Final

The final of the BRESS Breda Open will be contested between Ireland and England, as No.7 seed Sam Buckley and No.3 seed Ben Smith won their respective semi-final matches on Saturday in the Dutch city.

The Englishman got the day’s play underway in an all-British battle against Scotland’s Alasdair Prott, the No.8 seed for the tournament, and he required just 25 minutes on court to get the victory. He won 11-4, 11-4, 11-9 to move into his first final of 2022.

He will face Ireland’s Sam Buckley in the final on Sunday at the BRESS Breda Sportcenter, after the Irishman overcome Hong Kong’s Chung Yat Long. The Hongkonger had already knocked two seeds out of the competition, including the tournament’s top seed on the opening day. Buckley, however, was too strong on semi-finals day, winning in just 23 minutes, and dropping only 11 points across the contest, to book his spot in the final.

The final of the BRESS Breda Open will take place on Sunday, April 10, with Smith and Buckley going head to head for the title. The action will be streamed live on the PSA Challenger Tour YouTube channel.
