CIB Road to Egypt: Who Will Be the Next Player to Qualify?

The race for a spot at the season-ending CIB PSA World Tour Finals is heating up with just three more PSA World Tour events in store before the tournament takes place at Cairo’s Mall of Arabia between June 21-26.

The CIB PSA World Tour Finals brings together the top eight male and top eight female players on the planet for a six-day showpiece tournament, which will see players battle it out in an exciting group stage as they bid to qualify for the knockout semi finals and beyond.

The reigning PSA World Champions, together with all PSA World Tour Platinum winners throughout the 2021-22 season, automatically qualify for the CIB PSA World Tour Finals. The remaining spots will be allocated to the highest ranked players on the CIB Road to Egypt Standings, with points on offer at all PSA World Tour events throughout the season.

A quartet of players have qualified for the men’s event, with Paul Coll (Windy City Open and British Open winner), Ali Farag (Egyptian Open winner), Diego Elias (Qatar Classic winner) and Mostafa Asal (U.S. Open winner) all booking their spots in Cairo.

Nouran Gohar’s dominance – which has seen her win the Egyptian Open, U.S. Open, Windy City Open and Black Ball Open – will ensure she lines up in the women’s event together with Hania El Hammamy (British Open winner) and Nour El Sherbini, who has amassed enough points to secure a top eight berth on the CIB Road to Egypt Standings.

There are still nine places up for grabs across the men’s and women’s events, with the latest battle for places set to ignite at the PSA World Championships, which starts tomorrow (May 13) and concludes on May 22.
