For the second day in succession in Plano, Texas, Andrew Douglas took out seeded opposition, and he will now face No.6 seed Nick Sachvie in a surprise semi-final match-up at the Challenger 10 level Life Time Dallas Open on Saturday evening.
Home favourite Douglas had overcome compatriot, and No.2 seed, Spencer Lovejoy in a five-game battle on the opening day of the tournament, and in the quarters, he took on Canada’s Michael McCue, the No.7 seed, for a place in the last four. He required just half an hour to win in three, booking his spot in the semi-finals.
The American will now face another Canadian, in No.6 seed Nick Sachvie, in the last four, after he downed No.3 seed Timothy Brownell in the second surprise result of the evening’s play in Plano. Sachvie lost the first game on a tie-break, but came roaring back to win the next three, taking the win in just under an hour, to advance to the last four.
The other semi-final at the Life Time Dallas Open will see top seed Nick Wall take on Germany’s Yannik Omlor, the No.4 seed, for a place in the final on Sunday, as he continues his run towards a Tour-leading eighth title of the season.
The semis of the tournament will take place at Life Time Plano in Texas, United States, with the last four doing battle for places in the finals.
