Life Time Dallas Open: Unseeded Douglas Shocks Field To Win

Unseeded American Andrew Douglas has claimed the Life Time Dallas Open, his second title of the season, after coming through the field and beating four of the event’s seeded players, including the top two seeds, to take the victory.

The Challenger 10 level tournament, which took place at Life Time Plano in Texas, USA, saw Douglas come in unseeded, and he started the event strongly with a. Five-game victory over the No.2 seed, fellow American Spencer Lovejoy. The pair traded games during the contest, with Douglas eventually winning out after 68 minutes of acton, 11-9 in the fifth.

He then beat a pair of Canadians to make it into the final of the competition. In the last eight, the American downed No.7 seed Michael McCue in just half an hour, before going on to beat No.6 seed Nick Sachvie in a tough four-game battle, one that lasted over an hour.

The final saw the unseeded American take on top seed Nick Wall for the title, and it was an epic battle, going all the way to a last game tie-break. Douglas won the first game, before the Englishman then won the next two games to hold the lead. The American then won the fourth comfortably to set up a deciding game shootout for the title. Both men had match balls, but in the end it was Douglas that took the title, winning the fifth game 16-14, to take victory on home soil.
