Omar Abdel Meguid has built up a decent tally of PSA World Tour title since joining the tour at 17 years of age.
Meguid captured his first title at the Prague Squash Open in 2008 and followed that up with a win in Russia a year later at the Saint-Petersburg Open.
The Egyptian claimed his first PSA M5 title at the Kean Delft Open in November 2011 final and followed that up with a maiden PSA M10 crown during the Atlanta Open where he defeated compatriot Andrew Wagih Shoukry in the final.
Meguid’s victory at the Mohammed Yaquob Hajeyah PSA Tournament, in addition to his Serena Hotels Cas International Squash Championship, PSA M25 title elevated him into the top 25 in the world for the first time.
The Egyptian performed well at the start of 2015, with runner-up finishes at the Oregon and Stratos Seattle Opens sandwiching an appearance at the Guggenheim Partners Windy City Open where he lost out in the first round to Nicolas Mueller.
He reached the semi-final stage at his last two events of the 2014/15 season, the Sharm El Sheikh International Championship and the HKFC International 25 before making it to the final of the CAS International where he lost to compatriot Mohamed Abouelghar.
Meguid lifted another title in 2015, when he beat Jens Schoor in the final of the Qatar Circuit II over three games.
The Egyptian then went onto win the next two tournaments he entered – the Oregon Open and the Ganem Vein Institute Cactus Classic.
However, Meguid was halted in the final of the Wimbledon Club Squash Squared Open by England’s James Willstrop over four games.
The Egyptian came back stronger a few months later when he won the COAS International Squash Championship beating Ivan Yuen in the final over three games.
Injury then prevented Meguid from lifting another title, this time in the final of the Pakistan Navy CNS International Squash Championship where a slip forced Meguid to retire and hand victory to fellow Egyptian Zahed Mohamed.
Meguid made his next final appearance five months later when he lost out to Cesar Salazar in the final of the Montreal Open.
