Stephen Coppinger is South Africa’s highest ranked player on the PSA World Tour and won his first PSA World Tour event at 2007’s Buler Squash Challenge Cup.
Coppinger enjoyed a fruitful 2013, breaking the top twenty in the world barrier in April, becoming the first South African to do so since the late 1970’s.
2014 brought with it Coppinger’s first PSA World Tour title in three years after he defeated Marwan Elshorbagy in the final of the Northern Ontario Championship in April.
Dublin-born Coppinger was impressive at the World Championship in November 2014, making it to the quarter-final before being defeated by Mohamed Elshorbagy en-route to the final.
The South African came exceedingly close to taking the Motor City Open after battling through to the final despite being unseeded but Miguel Angel Rodriguez beat him to the punch after a gruelling five-game encounter.
He bounced back though eight months later with victory at the Charlottesville Open.
