Jakub Solnicky is one of a number of Czech players in and around the world’s top 100, making his move inside that mark in August 2021.
Solnicky made his debut in the main draw of a tournament in 2015, having featured in the qualifying round of the SYNOT TIP Open four years previous. However, it took him another couple of years before he made his first quarter final, which came at the Hasta La Vista Open in 2017.
He also reached the last eight of the Subbotnik Open, Swiss Open and Romanian Open a year later, before making the same stage of the Falcon PSA Squash Club Open, Prague Open, Czech Open, Capra Baerum Open and IMET Open in 2019. The Czech player also reached his first semi-final that year, making it into the last four at the Migdal Insurance PSA TelAviv.
Solnicky then made the semis of both the Hampshire Open, Expression Networks Nolan and Liam’s Tournament and the Expression Networks Prague Open in 2020, before making his first final on Tour at the Czech Pro Series 1 in early 2021.
He secured his breakthrough win in May of that year, as he defeated compatriot Martin Svec to claim the Czech Pro Series 3, his maiden Tour title. That result helps push him inside the top 100 of the World Rankings for the first time later that year. He finished 2021 with a slim-final appearance at the Czech Pro Series V and making the last eight of the Czech Pro Series VI.
