Karina Tyma is the leading Polish player on the women’s Tour, and has made her way into the top 100 in the World Rankings.
She made her debut in the main draw of an event in 2018, but had to wait until the year after before she reached the last eight of an event, doing so at the Open International des Volcans. Tyma then made the final of the Grand Sport Armenian W5 Challenger III, losing out to Farida Mohamed in the final.
The Polish No.1 made it through to the last four of the E.M. Noll Classic in 2020, and thanks to that run in Philadelphia, she broke into the top 100 in the World Rankings.
2021 saw Tyma break through on the Challenger Tour, as she became the first Polish woman to ever win a tournament on Tour. She did so at the SOAP Engineering Squash Open, before then doubling down with the Life Time City Centre Women’s International Squash Open title two months later.
Thanks to those results, plus a quarter final finish at the Odense Open, Tyma featured at the PSA World Championships for the first time in her career, in what was her first appearance at a major tournament. She finished her calendar year with a semi-final result at the GWC Squash House Challenger 5 before making the final of the Nash Cup.
