Malaysia’s Ivan Yuen made his first PSA World Tour appearance in 2007 and had to wait two years before breaking his title duck at the PSA Indian Challenger No.4 which came three months after he broke into the world’s top 100 for the first time.
Four years passed before Yuen could capture his second PSA World Tour crown before he won two titles in 2014. Yuen’s fifth PSA World Tour title came at the Malaysian Tour Squash VI the year after and, after briefly moving into the world’s top 60 players in October 2015, he sealed another title the following month.
The Malaysian finished off the year with a semi-final appearance at the Qatar Circuit II where he lost out to Jens Schoor over four games. Yuen also reached the same point the year after but once again fell short of making the final, this time facing defeat against Karim Ali Fathi.
Further semi-final appearances beckoned for Yuen in 2016 with one of the highlights coming against Max Lee at the HKFC International when he knocked out the defending champion in round one, who at the time was ranked 43 places above him in the World Rankings before going on to reach the semi-final stage where he lost to Paul Coll.
Yuen made his first final appearance of the season at the COAS International Squash Championship, where he fell short of lifting the M25 title to Omar Abdel Meguid. The Malaysian then went onto break into the world’s top 40 for the first time in March 2017.
Yuen finished runner-up to Greg Lobban at the ILT-Community Trust NZ Southern Invercargill Open, before making the semi finals of the Ohana Malaysian Open. He then won the Invercargill Open, DHA Cup International Squash Championship and the Squashgym International Squash Classic in 2018.
He then reached the quarter finals of the Golootlo Pakistan Open Squash Championships before then reaching the last 16 of the Pittsburgh Open, Canada Cup and the Macau Open in 2019.
