Balazs Farkas made his debut on Tour in 2016, and has gone on to cement himself as a member of the world’s top 100, and as Hungary’s No.1 male player.
Farkas started his career by featuring in the IMET Open for his first three events across three years, before making the quarter finals of the Mano Arbeitnehmeruberlassung Insel Bruggen Open. He then reached the final of the IMET Open on his fourth attempt, in 2016.
A year later, and Farkas secured his first Tour title, winning the Airport Squash & Fitness - Airport Xmas Challenger, defeating Carlos Cornes Ribadas in the final. He followed that up with a win at the IMET PSA Open to end 2018, before starting 2019 with his third successive victory, taking the title at the Falcon PSA Squash Cup Open.
The Hungarian also reached the finals of the Subbotnik Open, White Nights Open, Cognac Open, Capra Baerum Open and Romanian Open in 2019, winning the latter to claim his fourth title on Tour, and starting a run of 18 straight events to the end of 2021 where he made it to at least the quarter finals.
Farkas featured just four times in 2020, but was able to claim his fifth win, downing Daniel Mekbib to win the Austrian Open, and thanks to that victory, he moved inside the top 100 of the World Rankings for the first time in his career.
He then started 2021 with another win on home soil, this time at the SquashBerek Open, before also making the final of the Odense Open, the World Championships qualifier in Denmark. That was followed with another runners-up finish, this time at the Moscow Squash Open, before Farkas claimed his seventh Tour title, winning the Romanian Open for a second time.
