Tsz Fung Yip made his PSA World Tour debut in 2009 but exploded onto the scene in 2015 with three successive titles at the start of the year.
After losing in three consecutive finals in 2014, Fung Yip made amends on the Malaysian Tour has he won all three events he participated in on the tour in March, April and May. He nearly brought his 2014/15 season to a successful close at the NZ Southern Open but he threw away a two game lead to lose out to Raphael Kandra in the final.
Fung Yip was unable to replicate his form in the latter stages of 2015 and made a number of early round exits. 2016 began in the same way with a handful of early round exits, however Fung Yip picked up his form to reach the final of the Community Trust NZ Southern Invercargill Open in June 2016, where he lost out to Paul Coll over four games in the final.
Fung Yip then backed this up with a semi-final appearance against Ivan Yuen in the COAS International Squash Championship. Hong Kong’s Fung Yip went onto clinch his first ever PSA World title outside of Asia in 2017 at the Holtrand Open, where he beat Al Tamimi over a gruelling five-game battle after going 2-1 down but he dug in and grinded out wins on the tie-break in games four and five to close out a victory to seal his maiden PSA M25 title.
He then went on to reach the quarter finals of the Sporta Guatemala X Torneo Internacional PSA Sporta, HKFC International, and the Macau Open in 2017. The man from Hong Kong had to wait until 2018 for his next appearance in a final, but he made it count by winning the Macau Open, overcoming Omar Mosaad.
He also reached the semi finals of the Pittsburgh Open and the HKFC International that year, along with a runner-up finish in the Malaysian Open. The latter half of the 2018-19 season saw Yip reach the quarter finals of the Canada Cup, before making it to the last four of the Macau Open.
He went on to reach the final of the HKFC PSA International Squash Open on home soil, but lost out to Greg Lobban. Yip was also a part of the Hong Kong quartet that featured at the WSF Men’s World Team Squash Championships.
After just a handful of performances on the Tour in 2020, due to the suspension of it thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, Yip started 2021 strongly, by reaching the semi-finals of the Chairman Cup, before then winning both the Chairman Cup 2 and the Hong Kong Football Club PSA.
The Hongkonger then reached the quarter finals of the Cleveland Skating Club Open, London Open and the Malaysian Open Squash Championships to finish his year, along with a runners-up finish at the 15th CNS International Squash Championship in Pakistan.
