A promising Egyptian, Karim Ali Fathi has an extensive number of PSA World Tour titles to his name.
The first of those titles came at the Rocafort Open in 2012 where a dogged performance against top seed Julien Balbo meant that unseeded Fathi opened his account in superb style. He went on to win four more titles in 2012 alone with the last of those coming at the London Open in November, again after the Egyptian had started the tournament unseeded.
Fathi moved into the world's top 40 players after picking up the Madison Open crown in September 2013 and he followed that up by winning the Malaysian Tour Squash Circuit 6 almost a year later. The first half of 2015 failed to throw up any titles for the Egyptian who recorded a number of quarter-final finishes at the start of the year.
2015 failed to throw up any titles for the Egyptian who recorded successive semi-finishes at the CAS International and the President Gold Cup towards the back end of the year. He had a fine run though at the World Championship in the November, reaching the third round stage for the first time after upsetting both Peter Barker and Fares Dessouki.
Reached the final of the Oregon Open but fell short of clinching the title as Omar Abdel Meguid ran out winner over five games. Fathi’s next final appearance came at the Qatar Circuit III, where he once again fell short over five games this time against Abdulla Mohd Al Tamimi.
Fathi then had a run of quarter final appearances, which included the Open International de Squash de Nantes and the COAS International Squash Championship, before he reached the semis of the President Gold Cup Squash International Tournament.
The Egyptian won the Costa Rica Open in 2017, beating Arturo Salazar in the final, before then reaching the quarter finals of the DPD Open later that year. Last eight appearances at the Vedanta Indian Squash Open and the Montreal Open also came in 2018, with semi final appearances also at the Chamberlain Squash Open and the DHA Cup International Squash Championship for Fathi.
