Ryosei Kobayashi is the leading male Japanese player on the Tour, and has risen up the World Rankings quickly over the last few years.
The Japanese player made his debut on Tour in 2010, and played in the Pro Squash Kansai in his native Japan for three consecutive years, before playing the Rochester ProAm between 2014 and 2016. However, he did not really start to make his way on Tour until 2019.
He made the final of his third event back on Tour after his three-year hiatus, but was beaten in the final of the Solomon Markets City View Open. He did not have to wait long for his first win, though, taking victory at the Roberts & Morrow North Coast Open in the summer of that year.
Kobayashi also reached the final of the Melbourne Open, before winning for a second time in 2019 at the Haining Squash Open in China. That saw him qualify for the PSA Men’s World Championship for the first time.
He stared 2020 in a rich vein of form, winning his first two events of the year. Kobayashi claimed victory at the Hampshire Open and Swiss Open to climb inside the top 75 in the World Rankings for the first time. He carried his good form into his first couple of events after the restart of the Tour, reaching the last eight of both the PSA Bordeaux Nord and the Le Reve Nancy in 2021.
