Egypt’s Mohamed ElSherbini has enjoyed a lot of success since joining the PSA Tour, including an impressive run of four back-to-back titles in 2017 and he is now a member of the world’s top 30.
The 28-year-old is the cousin of current women’s World No.1 Nour El Sherbini and so far has ten titles to his name. The first of those came at the Assore and Balwin Parkview Open in 2017, and he went on to win his next three events, victorious at the West Rand Open, Keith Grainger Memorial UCT Open Squash Championships and the Bull Ring Open Squash Championships, before then also winning the Cleveland Skating Club Open later that year.
The Egyptian then took the title at the Annecy PSA Open in early 2018, as his rise up the rankings continued. He won the Growthpoint SA Open the same year, with an appearance in the last four also coming at the WLJ Capital Boston Open.
ElSherbini won back-to-back titles in early 2019, doing so at the Qualico Manitoba Open and the Lethbridge Pro-Am. He followed that with a runner-up finish at the CAS international Squash Championship before claiming another title at the Serena Hotel Huawei International Squash Tournament.
He made it to the last 32 of the Men’s World Championship in Qatar in November 2019, a sign of his progress up the ranks, before then making the final of the Silver level Motor City Open. With those performances, he has fought his way into the top 32 in the World Rankings.
He made it to the last 32 of the Men’s World Championship in Qatar in November 2019, a sign of his progress up the ranks, before then making the final of the Silver level Motor City Open. A string of second round results at the majors would follow once the Tour returned from its enforced six-month suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
ElSherbini broke into the last 16 of a Platinum event for the first time in September 2021, doing so on home soil at the CIB Egyptian Open, before then finishing runner-up at the Cleveland Skating Club Open to England’s Adrian Waller. The Egyptian then made it to the last 16 of both the CIB Squash Open Black Ball and the Houston Open, the latter of which was his first appearance of 2022.
