Karim El Hammamy joined the PSA World Tour in 2011 but had to wait five years until he reached his first PSA World Tour final.
El Hammamy made his first final appearance in 2016 at the Arab Federation Open and then at the Coutrcare Open where he finished runner-up at both tournaments. The Egyptian went onto win his maiden PSA World Tour title at the Texas Open Squash Championship when he breezed past Indian Vikram Malhotra to claim the first Tour title of his career.
El Hammamy then finished runner-up at the PSA Valencia losing out to Mazen Gamal over four games, leading the Egyptian to break into the world’s top 60 for the first time in his career in 2017. He was then beaten by Mohamed Reda in the quarter finals of both the President Gold Cup International Tournament, before also reaching the last eight of the Holtrand Open and Manitoba Open.
El Hammamy then reached the last eight of the Open International Niort Venise Verte, and the semi finals of the fifth event on the Qatar Circuit. The Egyptian secured victory at the Lagos International Squash Classic, beating Ahmed Hosny in the final. He then reached three more quarter finals in 2018, at the Chamberlain Squash Open, Kolkata International and the Pakistan Open.
