Eain Yow Ng is Malaysia’s leading male player, having pushed into the top 20 in the World Rankings for the first time in 2021.
He started to come to prominence in 2015, when he reached his first final on the PSA Tour. He was beaten by countryman Tsz Fung Yip in a Malaysian Tour event. Yow took his first victory on the tour, beating Elvinn Leo in the second event of the 2016 season. He also finished runner-up twice on the tour that year, losing to Vikram Malhotra and Mohd Syafiq Kamal.
The second tour victory of his career came at the NT Open in 2017, where the Malaysian beat Joshua Larkin in the final. He then beat Larkin once more, this time in the final of the Australian Open to take his second title of the calendar year. Since then, Yow has reached a smattering of quarter finals, including at the Pakistan Open later that year, and at the Malaysian Open and Chicago Open in 2018.
The Malaysian had a good run of making it to the last 16 of big events during the 2018-19 season, doing so at the Hong Kong Open, Black Ball Open and the Canada Cup. He made the quarters of the Macau Open in his penultimate appearance of the season.
He won his national title in 2019, taking the Challenger 30 level Malaysian Open, before making the last 16 of two Platinum events that season. He did so at the CIB Egyptian Open and the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions.
The Malaysian went on to reach the same stage of the Qatar Classic in 2020, and with it, he made the rise to his career best World Ranking, of World No.26. That rise up the World Rankings continued through 2021, thanks to a maiden Platinum level quarter final, as the young Malaysian reached the last eight at the CIB Egyptian Open. He broke inside the top 20 for the first time in September of that year, and went on to reach the semis on home soil at the Bronze level Malaysian Open Squash Championships to end the calendar year.
