Laurens Jan Anjema became the highest ranked Dutchman of all time in March 2007 when he overtook former World No.22 Tommy Berden.
Anjema won the 2008 Bluenose Classic in five games against Borja Golan but had to wait another couple of years before he could taste success again, winning the Open de Squash Banque Nationale Groupe Financier in Canada.
Later that year he made it to the US Open final but was downed by the higher-ranked Wael El Hindi.
Anjema did however claim victory over Omar Mosaad at the NetSuite Open the year afterwards, which saw the Dutchman qualify for the 2011 PSA World Series Finals.
2012 saw Anjema reach the quarter-finals of the British Open and made it to the second round of the World Championship in 2013 before being knocked out by Nick Matthew.
The Dutchman reached the semi-final of the China Open and the quarter-final of the NetSuite Open towards the end of 2014 before injury cut his year short.
Anjema has won nine consecutive Dutch National titles in which he has participated in and made it to the semi-final of the HKFC International 25 in May 2015 but lost out to Saurav Ghosal.
Anjema won nine consecutive Dutch National titles between 2006-2014 and made it to the semi-final of the HKFC International 25 in May 2015 but lost out to Saurav Ghosal.
He briefly dropped out of the world’s top 50 five months later after suffering a career-threatening foot injury but a quarter-final finish at the Bluenose Classic helped move him back up the World Rankings.
