Emily Whitlock is one of the most talented young British players on the PSA World Tour and already has a vast array of Tour titles in her burgeoning career.
After making solid progress up the World Rankings, she captured three successive titles at the start of 2012 and repeated the feat at the end of the year.
Five titles followed in 2013 and 2014 before she lifted her first PSA Challenger 15 title at the Calgary CFO Consulting Services WSA Women's Squash Week in May 2015. Her performances there didn't go unnoticed and she joined the elite top 20 players in the world a month later.
In March 2016, Whitlock became the first woman to lift two PSA World Tour titles that year after winning the Winnipeg Open and Calgary Squash Week - the latter of which yielding a 15th career Tour title. Whitlock was rewarded with a move into the world’s top 15 for the first time four months later.
Semi-final appearances in the Macau Open and the Cleveland Classic beckoned for Whitlock later that season. She also made it to the quarter-final stage of the prestigious British Open in 2017 for the first time in her career after she beat fellow Brit Alison Waters in the second round at Hull’s Airco Arena.
She then made it to the final of the London Open, where she lost out to Amanda Landers-Murphy. She followed a quarter final appearance in Macau with victory in the CAC Open in Sandy Springs. Whitlock finished runner-up in Nantes, losing to Nele Gilis in the final, before then tasting glory in her next tournament. She beat Samantha Cornett to win the Nash Cup in September 2018.
The young Welshwoman went on to reach the quarter finals of both the Cleveland Classic and the Bahl and Gaynor Cincinnati Cup in the early part of 2019, before then going on to reach the semi finals of the Queen City Open.
She started the 2019/2020 campaign with a quarter-final appearance at the Open de France - Nantes presented by Tailor Capital, before making it into the last 16 of the Oracle NetSuite Open later that month. The Welshwoman also made it into the last 16 at the Platinum level J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions in January 2020.
After a string of second round appearances after the Tour’s resumption after its enforced suspension due to COVID-19, Whitlock then made it into the semi-finals of the Manchester Open. She ended the year with her 18th Tour title, winning at the Czech Open.
She started 2022 slowly, but came into some form towards the end of the first half of the year. The Welshwoman reached the last eight of the Manchester Open, before then making it to the final of the Cannon Kirk Irish Squash Open, losing out to the in-form Tinne Gilis in Dublin.
