Zeina Mickawy joined the PSA World Tour in 2012 and she has been a consistent member of the world’s top 40 for the last few years.
The Egyptian went onto claim her maiden PSA World Tour title after recovering from a game down to beat Belgian tinne Gilis in the final of the Harrow Ukrainian Squash Cup 3 – the day before her 18th birthday. It was Mickawy’s second PSA World Tour final after reaching the same stage on the previous Ukrainian Cup tournament earlier in the year.
Mickawy then went to make back-to-back finals in 2017 – finished runner-up at the Bahl & Gaynor Cincinnati Gaynor Cup where she lost out to Kanzy Emad El Defrawy and the Winnipeg Winter Club Women’s Open where she was beaten to the title by Samantha Cornett. The Egyptian moved into the world’s top 50 for the first time in 2017.
The young Egyptian then reached the semi finals of both Ohana Malaysian Open and the London Open, before losing out to Donna Lobban in the final of the Monte Carlo Classic to end 2017.
Mickawy then reached the semis of the Winnipeg Winter Club again, before going on to finish runner-up in the Irish Squash Open. She also made the quarter finals of the Tournament of Pyramides and the HKFC International.
The young Egyptian secured her second title at the Wadi Degla Squash Tournament in 2018, beating compatriot Nada Abbas in the final. She then made the last four of the Pakistan Open at the end of the year. Mickawy also reached the semi finals of the Macau Open later in the campaign, before going on to make it into the top 20 in the World Rankings for the first time in August 2019.
The Egyptian also made it to the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Squash Classic in her final appearance of 2019, before getting through to the last 16 of the Carol Weymuller Open.
Following the Tour’s return after it’s six-month hiatus, Mickey had consistent string of second round results, making that mark it six major championships, including the Allam British Open, El Gouna International Squash Open and the PSA World Championships 2020-2021.
