Alexandra Fuller is South Africa’s premiere female squash player, breaking into the top 50 in the world in the summer of 2018.
After turning professional in 2013, Fuller had a string of quarter final appearances, including the UCT Open, Paderborn Open, and the City of Perth Open. She also reached the last eight of the LiveStuff Open and the ORC Open in 2014, before reaching her first final early in 2015, but she was beaten by Siyoli Waters Bongi in the final of the Assore Central Gauteng Open.
Fuller’s first title on the PSA Tour came in 2016, when she overcame Chloe Mesic in the final of the Sekisui Open. She then made the semis of the Paderborn Open, and the Jersey Squash Classic later that year. The South African won the Assore and Balwin Parkview Open in 2017, before retaining her Sekisui Open title later that year, beating Julianne Courtice in the final.
Fuller won five titles in 2018, as she broke into the top 50 in the world for the first time in her career. In those five finals, she only defeated two different players. She beat compatriot Milnay Louw in the final of the Bermuda Open, Assore Balwin Gauteng Open and the Keith Grainger Memorial UCT Open Squash Championships.
Later in the year, Fuller got the better of Lucy Turmel in consecutive finals. She won the Christchurch Vets Surgery Ipswich Open and the Open International des Volcans, beating the Englishwomen in both. Her first semi final appearance of 2019 came in the Edinburgh Sports Club Open, where she was beaten by the eventual winner, Hania El Hammamy.
Fuller then made it to the quarter finals of the Courtcare Northern Open in Manchester, before reaching the final of the Cannon Kirk Irish Open, where she lost out to Nele Gilis in the final. The South African reached the top 40 in the World Rankings for the first time in July 2019.
The South African made the last 16 of the Open de France - Nantes presented by Tailor Capital in her first appearance of the 2019/2020 season, before making it into the second round of the Women’s World Championship. She also made the semis of the Edinburgh Sports Club Open in the early part of 2020.
After making her return to the Tour in 2021 following the COVID-19 enforced suspension, Fuller had a string of second round results in the major tournaments, including at the El Gouna International Squash Open and the Allam British Open. She ended the calendar year with a semi-final result at the London Open on the Challenger Tour.
