Ooi Kah Yan is a young Malaysian who is still making her way on Tour, and has broken inside the top 75 prior to her 20th birthday.
She made her first appearance in the main draw of an event on Tour in 2015, and proceeded to feature on the Malaysian Squash Tour for the first three years of her career, and she recorded a number of semi-final and quarter-final results over that time period.
That form continued into 2018, where she made three straight semi-finals, at the Squash Melbourne Open, Q Open and the DHA Cup International Squash Championship, before going on to reach her first final at the start of 2019 at the SRAM PSA 2.
Later in 2019, the Malaysian secured her first victory on the Tour, winning the Pacific Toyota Cairns Squash International after defeating Yura Choe in the final. That win came off the back of a run of making the last eight or better in nine of ten events, including semi-finals at the Roberts & Morrow North Coast Open, Squash Melbourne Open and the Queensland Open.
