Danielle Letourneau joined the PSA World Tour in 2014, and has risen steadily up the rankings ever since, breaking inside the top 20 in the world for the first time in 2021.
The Canadian finished runner-up in her first final appearance in 2015 at the Livestuff Open when Nele Gilis went onto lift the title. However, the following year Letourneau went on to victory at the Liberty Bell Open to secure her maiden PSA World Tour title when she beat Georgina Stoker. Letourneau then backed this up by lifting the Nash Cup to secure her second PSA World Tour title of that year when she beat Misaki Kobayashi over five games.
A handful of runner-up finishes followed in 2017 at both the PSA Women’s Squash Week Open and Charlottesville Open where she lost out to Samantha Cornett and Rowan Elaraby respectively. These high tournament finishes saw Letourneau break into the world’s top 50 for the first time in her career in 2017.
The young Canadian then made the quarter finals of the Nash Cup and the Slaight Music Granite Open, before reaching the same stage of the Winnipeg Winter Club Women’s Open in her first tournament of 2018.
Letourneau then made the last eight in three straight tournaments. She reached the quarters at the Wasatch Advisors Salt Lake City Open, Calgary CFO Consulting Services PSA Women’s Squash Week and the Novum Energy Texas Open Women’s Squash Championship. She also reached the quarter finals of the HKFC International, where she was defeated by Mayar Hany.
The young Canadian made it to the last 16 of both the Cleveland Classic and Bahl and Gaynor Cincinnati Cup, before then reaching the quarter finals of the Calgary CFO Consulting Services PSA Women’s Squash Week on home soil. She made it into the semi-finals of the HKFC International Squash Open at the start of the 2019-2020 campaign, before then reaching the same stage of the Racquet Club Pro-Series tournament in early 2020.
Letourneau then won two events on home soil before the tour was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She lifted the Calgary CFO Consulting Services PSA Women’s Squash Week title, before then also winning the Queen City Open. When the tour resumed, the Canadian reached the last 16 of the CIB Egyptian Open, making it into the third round of a major tournament for the first time in her career. In the process, she made the move into the top 25 in the World Rankings for the first time as well.
After a string of second round results, Letourneau returned to the last 16 of a major championship, reaching that stage twice in the summer of 2021, at the Allam British Open and the CIB Egyptian Open, catapulting the Canadian into the top 20 in the World Rankings for the first time.
She lifted her sixth Tour title at the Oxford Properties Canadian Senior Championships, beating compatriot Hollie Naughton in the final, before then making it into the semi-finals of the Bronze level Malaysian Open Squash Championships and the Challenger 20 CIB Egyptian Challenger Tour 5.
