Emyr Evans is the younger brother of Tesni, the female Welsh No.1, and he made his way into the world’s top 100 for the first time in 2021.
The Welshman made his debut on tour in 2015, making the quarter finals of the Suez Helsinki Summer Challenger, before then making it into the last four of the Madison Open later that year.
A string of quarter final appearances followed over the next couple of years, along with semi-final results at the Annecy PSA Open, DPD/FOS Amsterdam Open, Open Squash Provence Chateau/Arnoux and Ocean Blue Logistics Grimsby & Cleethorpes Open before he made his first final. That came at the Prague Open, losing out to Mohammad Alsarraj in four games.
Evans made two more finals in 2018, doing so at the Austrian Open and the Grand Sport Armenian M5 Challenger III, and then reached the semis of both the Linear Logistics Bankers Hall Club Pro Am and the Life Time Atlanta Open to start 2019. He would go on to make the final of the former the year after, along with also finishing runner-up at the APM Kelowna Open as well.
After a truncated 2020 campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Evans made at least the quarter finals of eight straight events to end 2021, including finishing runner-up at the Springfield Scottish Squash Open. With that run of results, the Welshman moved inside the world’s top 100 for the first time in his career.
