After making his maiden PSA World Tour appearance in 2005, Salazar had to wait two years before lifting his first title which came at the Saskatoon Boast.
January 2008 saw the Mexican claim a place in the world’s top 100 for the first time and he moved into the world’s top 50 in 2009. After yet more success, Salazar captured his fifth title at the Internacional Sporta in 2010 and he retained his title the year after.
A four-year title drought then followed in which he dropped out of the top 100 players in the world. However, he returned to form at the Minneapolis Open in November 2015, beating Peter Creed in the final. Salazar’s form continued when he went on to finish runner-up against Alan Clyne in the final of the RC Pro Series in 2015.
The Mexican then claimed his own victory at the Asociacion Chaquena de Squash Tour de las Americas – Regatas Resistencia Open where he downed Christopher Gordon in straight sets in the final. Salazar followed this up with victory at the Paraguay Open to claim the first back-to-back PSA World Tour titles for the first time in his career after overcoming defending champion Robertino Pezzota in the final.
In 2017, Salazar captured his 11th PSA World Tour title at the Manitoba Open when he beat England’s Ben Coleman in straight sets. The Mexican then made the final of the Costa Rica Open later that year, but lost out to Karim Ali Fathi. He also made the last eight of the Harrow Sports Charlottesville Open and the Life Time Chicago Open, before a last four appearance at the London Open.
He then had a string of quarters and semis appearances in 2018, with last four spots made at the Pakistan Open, Sporta Guatemala XI Torneo Internacional and the Chicago Open.
